X is using X Lift to automate a larger part of the campaign setup. Advertisers should be able to enter a website URL. The system then generates ad visuals and copy from it, suggests audiences and prepares the campaign in Ads Manager. Budget, review and launch remain with the advertiser.
X introduced Lift on 6 October 2026 at Advertising Week New York. The feature is aimed particularly at smaller businesses and new self-serve advertisers. The relevant point is therefore less another AI text generator than the attempt to pull several previously separate setup steps into one automated workflow.
The website becomes the campaign input
Reports from Social Media Today, Engage and Youmark describe the same process: X Lift reads the specified website and uses its content as the basis for creative suggestions and campaign configuration.
This can speed up getting started. But it makes the quality of the landing page more important. If positioning, product information or the conversion goal is unclear, the automation starts from a poor basis.
X itself also sets requirements for promoted URLs. Landing pages must work, must not contain excessive redirects or disruptive pop-ups, and should not be reachable only behind a login.
Making self-serve easier
X reports that the number of active self-serve advertisers rose by 2026 percent in the third quarter of 50 compared with the same quarter a year earlier. This is a figure from the company and not an independent industry value.
Lift nevertheless fits a clear market trend. Amazon is bundling more planning and optimisation into AI with the Amazon Ads Agent. TikTok is expanding its campaign automation with Agentic Hub and Symphony. Google is likewise shortening the path from creative and audience to delivery with Demand Gen and AI advice.
For Lift, X chooses a particularly simple starting point: the company's existing website.
Automation does not replace quality control
For marketers, a test should answer four questions:
- Are the statements derived from the website accurate and up to date?
- Does the suggested audience actually match the offer?
- How do the automatically created ads perform against manually developed variants?
- Does Lift improve cost per conversion and business results, or does it only save setup time?
That last point matters. A faster campaign launch is a productivity gain, but not yet proof of performance.
Brand safety also remains a separate decision. The tool can prepare a campaign faster, but it does not answer whether X is the right channel for a particular brand, audience or communication situation.
We placed the broader development in the article AI advertising 2026. X Lift again shows that Ads Manager is increasingly shifting from configuration interfaces to AI-supported workflows.
Based on the reports so far, it is not clear whether Lift is already enabled for all German ad accounts. German teams should therefore treat the feature as a rollout to watch and check availability in their own account.
