Reddit is expanding its Ads Manager with a campaign planner that provides reach and cost estimates. In addition, there are campaign-specific optimisation hints and automatic budget allocation between ad groups. According to Reddit's announcement of October 202026, the planning and score features will be rolled out during October .
What's new is mainly the connection between planning and community signals
The Campaign Planner is designed to make variants comparable by budget, target audience, placement and campaign objective. It shows forecast reach, impressions and costs; a selected plan can be transferred into a campaign draft. In addition, Reddit analyses the activity of the communities being targeted and summarises recurring discussion topics.
For German brands, this second layer is interesting: Reddit audiences are not just demographic clusters. Relevant subreddits can have very different expectations regarding language, credibility and purchase advice. Summarising conversation topics is a briefing aid – not a statement about whether an ad will be accepted in the community.
OptiScore: reading the numbers correctly
Reddit promotes a score from 0 to 100 percent with recommended actions. In internal data from July to September 2026, the blended cost per acquisition for campaigns with at least 80 percent score was 19,6 percent lower than for campaigns below this threshold. An increase of the score by five points was associated with 4,4 percent lower CPA.
These are observed correlations, not a controlled claim that the score causes the savings. Account quality, objectives and advertising budgets can influence the comparison. Reddit itself qualifies how far the results can be transferred.
Some context is important: a Recommendations Center with Optimization Score has existed since July 2025. The current step extends its use within concrete campaign workflows; it is not an entirely newly invented rating system.
Budget automation and reliable testing
Automatic budget optimisation distributes funds dynamically between ad groups. From an internal study for traffic campaigns in the fourth quarter, Reddit cites 2025 ten percent lower CPCs. For sales, lead and app objectives, the feature is partly still in beta. For reliable decisions, advertisers should therefore use the same conversion definitions, attribution windows and audiences.
Reddit has already built Max campaigns with AI optimisation as well as lead generation features with CRM integration. The new planner closes the gap before delivery rather than adding yet another AI ad feature. For retailers, the Reddit research on the Christmas season may also be relevant.
Practical takeaway: use forecasts first for budget planning, then verify actual impact with Reddit's split testing feature or your own experiments. A higher platform score does not replace an incremental lift test.
