The investment firm Shamrock Capital is acquiring a majority stake in the social-first agency Saylor and plans to combine it with the gaming agency Mutiny, which already belongs to Shamrock, once the transaction is completed. According to Adweek, the stake is an eight-figure investment.
The combined company is to operate under the name Saylor and be led by founder and CEO Will Trowbridge.
Social-first meets gaming fandom
Saylor was 2021 founded and positions itself as a social-first creative agency with a strong entertainment focus. The agency works for major media and entertainment brands, among others, and runs its own creator studio, FLEET.
Mutiny focuses on gaming communities and works with brands and publishers such as Xbox, Activision Blizzard and Riot Games. Shamrock had already acquired Mutiny in February 2026.
With the planned merger, Shamrock is combining two areas that are moving ever closer together in marketing: social-first creative, creator work and gaming fandom.
Why the deal matters for marketers
The merger shows how agency models built around community and fandom are changing. Reach alone is no longer enough for many brands; what is in demand are teams that think content, creators, community and entertainment together.
Gaming is an important test market in this respect. How far gaming already offers mass reach, and why advertising budgets still lag behind, is shown in our overview of gaming advertising and media spend 2026.
At the same time, creator marketing continues to professionalise. Brands are scrutinising prices and impact more closely, as our analysis of creator marketing and price pressure shows. Consolidation is also increasing on the company side, for example with the sale of Howl's creator division to Connexity.
No completed merger yet
Adweek reports that Saylor and Mutiny are to merge once the deal closes. As of the time of reporting, the merger is therefore not yet to be treated as completed.
What is clear, however, is the strategic direction: with Saylor and Mutiny, Shamrock is bundling social-first creativity, creator expertise and gaming fandom into a single joint agency offering.
