X has made its Lead Gen Ads available worldwide to all advertisers. Since 30 October 2026, according to the platform, smaller businesses and self-service advertisers can also embed forms directly in ads. Users leave their contact details without leaving X. For marketing teams, the question becomes more practical: how quickly does a reaction in the feed turn into a qualified contact in the CRM?
The form is now part of the ad
The renewed version of the former Twitter Lead Generation Cards works with image, video and carousel ads as well as Timeline Takeovers. A highlighted call-to-action leads to a native form. After a first submission, further forms can be pre-filled; X wants to reduce the steps between interest and sign-up.
What's new in the broad rollout is the clear release for small and medium-sized businesses as well as self-managed ad accounts. The format itself was already introduced in August in a limited phase. So it is mainly the availability – and with it the ability to use it without a managed enterprise-client setup – that makes the October step important.
In Ads Manager there is a dedicated Leads campaign objective for this. Submissions are collected in the Leads Center and can be exported or passed on to a CRM. X cites use cases such as demo bookings, event sign-ups, offers and waitlists, among others. According to the platform, form elements also appear in the viewer's local language or according to their browser language – interesting for campaigns across multiple markets.
What matters is the handover into the sales system
A short form first lowers the hurdle for prospects. What happens next determines the campaign's success. If you promote a B2B demo, for example, you should cleanly assign lead source, campaign and consent in your own process and work the contact promptly. The real metric is not just cost per lead, but how many submissions lead to qualified meetings, offers and orders.
X points to an official case study with the company micro1. The company combined native forms with keyword, lookalike and job-title targeting and a handover to the CRM. For the switch to the Leads objective, X cites 75 percent lower cost per lead and an average ROAS of 5 in the third quarter 2026. In the same case example, micro1 CMO Daniel Warner speaks of 33 percent lower lead costs for the entire acquisition program; these are comparison figures described in different ways.
Such campaigns are easy to compare with the mechanics of other networks: Reddit now links lead forms with HubSpot and in-market audiences, while Meta is automating the control of ad placements more heavily. For all of them, the operational quality after the submission counts at least as much as the ad's click-through rate.
What changes for German advertisers
The new Lead Gen Ads are particularly relevant for B2B service providers, local consulting offers, events or products that need explanation, when potential customers are already discussing the topic on X. A simple test can pit native lead forms against a classic landing page and compare cost per qualified lead and meeting rate.
Part of the market context is that X recently lost active users in the EU. This does not automatically make the platform the first choice for every ad budget: what matters is whether your target audience can actually be reached there.
