Zeta Global wants to close the gap between brand visibility in AI answers and actual ad activation. In October 2026, the US marketing technology provider agreed to two acquisitions: Senso for AI search and Digital Audience for identity and activation data. At the same time, Zeta presented AthenaOS, a new system designed to derive campaign decisions from company data.
The combination is interesting for marketing teams: if you currently measure how often a brand appears in ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews, you don't yet know how that attention relates to customer acquisition and media budgets. That is exactly the connection Zeta is working on.
From AI mention to the next customer touchpoint
On October 5, Zeta announced an agreement to acquire Senso. The company, backed by Y Combinator, develops the technical foundation for parts of Zeta's Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). The goal is to analyse how brands appear in answers from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Google AI Overviews and to link this with existing customer data.
This moves GEO towards classic marketing infrastructure. It is no longer just about rankings and mentions, but about the follow-up question: which contact can be developed further via CRM, advertising or other channels? That a market of its own is emerging for this is also shown by the development of Profound and Berlin-based Peec AI [](/blog/geo-startups-profound-peec-ai-finanzierung-agent-marketing-2026/).
Measurement still has to stay clean. Semrush data already shows how strongly AI citations vary between markets and providers. A GEO dashboard is therefore an additional diagnostic channel, not a replacement for conversion and revenue measurement.
Digital Audience strengthens European data connectivity
Just one day after Senso, on October 6, the agreement to acquire Digital Audience followed. The company provides identity and activation infrastructure which, according to Zeta, is already integrated into its platform. The transaction is also meant to add customer relationships and technical expertise in Europe.
This makes the move more relevant for German advertisers than yet another AI product launch from the US. Zeta is building an end-to-end chain of discovery, audience understanding, activation and measurement. In a later evaluation, companies should pay particular attention to which of their own data is actually linked, which advertising platforms are connected, and how consent and deletion rules are implemented.
AthenaOS is meant not only to analyse campaigns, but to coordinate them
At Zeta Live on October 8, the accompanying operating system AthenaOS was presented. Teams are supposed to define a goal – for example declining customer retention or insufficient campaign returns – and the system assembles suitable data, recommendations and applications.
Athena MCP is meant to bring this intelligence into existing assistants and applications as well. In addition, Zeta is developing specialised inference models with Fireworks based on NVIDIA Nemotron. For AthenaOS, Zeta currently cites a limited internal beta, a public beta still 2026, and general availability in the first quarter of 2027. The announced capabilities are therefore not yet a product available across the board.
An important precursor is Zeta's collaboration with Palantir Foundry: the data architecture does not stand apart from AthenaOS, but forms part of its foundation.
What agencies and advertisers should look at now
The most interesting shift is not the new name for an AI agent. Marketing platforms are trying to tie analysis and execution more closely together: from the generated answer through the audience to the next media decision. For procurement, what matters most is traceable data origin, export options, role rights, real integrations and a measurement concept for additional conversions.
At the same time, Apple is increasing pressure on existing tracking methods with Safari 27. WPP is already positioning InfoSum as part of its response. Zeta's double acquisition shows a different strategy: bundling more parts of the data and activation chain within its own system.
