Snickers has launched a social campaign called Hungr.AI, in which users can copy a branded prompt into ChatGPT as a "digital Snickers". The idea transfers the long-established claim "You're Not You When You're Hungry" to AI answers that seem wrong, overly agreeable or simply unhelpful.
The activation started on 31 August 2026 in the USA. Anyone who interacts with Hungr.AI via the campaign page on Reddit or Snapchat can then receive a real Snickers through DoorDash. According to the official terms, a total of 3.000 bars are available; the promotion runs until 20 September or while stocks last.
The "digital bar" is mainly a prompt
Technically, Mars has not built a new AI assistant. The official Snickers page provides a prompt that users copy into an existing conversation. It instructs the model to reconsider the previous answer and rephrase it in a different tone.
There is a small discrepancy between marketing and terms that is worth noting: the campaign speaks generally of "AI", but the official terms explicitly limit the code to a personal ChatGPT account.
Snickers itself also points out that the activation is no guarantee of better or correct answers. The official Q&A essentially states: Snickers provides the digital snack, the language model generates the answer, and facts should still be checked.
Hungr.AI is therefore more interactive brand communication than a genuine AI product.
Reddit and Snapchat become the sampling funnel
The more interesting part for social media marketers is not the prompt itself but the activation around it. Snickers connects a current cultural hook – AI hallucinations and overly agreeable chatbots – with social engagement and physical sampling.
Users reach Reddit or Snapchat via the campaign and can unlock there a real product sample delivered by DoorDash. This creates a measurable path from digital interaction to product contact.
This fits a broader trend in which platforms are increasingly used for commerce and conversion goals. Reddit is in parallel expanding its video ads and Engaged-View optimisation. Snapchat, in turn, shows with its Harry Potter AR campaign how brands can use interactive platform formats instead of classic display advertising.
A familiar brand idea instead of "now we do AI"
Adweek reports that Snickers and BBDO accompany the activation with two campaign films. What stands out is less the technical complexity than the decision not to make AI the new brand promise.
Instead, a new behaviour is built into an existing brand logic. This distinguishes Hungr.AI from many campaigns that mention generative AI mainly because the topic is currently attracting attention.
For FMCG brands this principle is more transferable than the specific prompt. Our playbook for social media in consumer goods brands likewise shows that platform mechanics, creators and commerce work best when they are tied to a clear brand idea.
The growing advertising role of generative AI is also relevant: ChatGPT Ads now reportedly have an annualised run rate of billions of dollars, according to Digiday. Hungr.AI, by contrast, does not use ChatGPT as ad inventory but makes using the product itself the campaign moment.
For marketers this is the more interesting lesson: New technology does not have to be the product of the campaign. It can simply provide a new behaviour to which an existing brand idea attaches sensibly.
