Svedka is handing its next Super Bowl spot to the community. The vodka brand from the Sazerac group wants fans to develop a 15-second commercial for the Super Bowl 2027 and is offering a prize of 500.000 US dollars for it. Andy Cohen is hosting the initiative. The move follows an AI-produced Super Bowl appearance 2026 that sparked discussion.
First the AI robot, now the audience as creatives
2026 Svedka had brought back its robot character "Fembot" in a Super Bowl spot. The manufacturer announced the comeback back in December 2025 officially. For that earlier campaign, a TikTok dance contest supplied material from the community, while AI technology was used for the visual realization of the robot character.
The new concept goes one step further. According to an Adweek report from the 2 November 2026, the brand is now looking for the ad itself from its fans. The participation moment around a finished campaign becomes a competition for the main creative work. Applicants should check the specific participation and usage terms directly with the organizer before submitting.
With 500.000 dollars, Svedka sets a prize that can keep attention on the campaign alive months before the actual game. The Super Bowl ad slot thus serves both as the stage and the hook for the preceding social campaign.
The real media effect happens before the finale
A fan contest turns a one-time broadcast into a longer story: the call for entries, ideas, possible interim results, winner selection and the finished spot each offer occasions for video clips and discussion. In addition, potential participants may spread their own drafts within their networks.
What matters for marketing is whether Svedka gains traceable participation and organic reach from this. For campaign reporting, qualified submissions, reach of the official calls, engagement of participants and later brand impact would be more interesting than a mere count of AI or fan contributions.
Other brands are also moving production closer to creative partners: Free People had WILLOW co-create a music video and campaign. Goodwipes produced an AI commercial in four days. Svedka now combines two trends that are often played off against each other: generative production and human co-creation.
What German brands need to consider with such campaigns
Anyone who wants to take user content into a major media campaign needs a precise brief: what creative idea is sought, which content and people may be shown, which rights are transferred and what compensation is paid? Especially with submitted music, logos, faces and AI material, clearance cannot be improvised only after the winner is chosen.
In the German market, alcohol advertising comes with additional legal and platform-side restrictions. The creative mechanic can still be used for unregulated product categories – for example, a fan-developed social video or a jointly designed product campaign.
The Super Bowl itself is increasingly being traded as a longer marketing event. How sponsors already invest in advance through creators, events and digital offerings is shown by our analysis of the Social Game Week around the Super Bowl 2027. And with Ferrero's entry into Super Bowl advertising, the field of brands using this moment for bigger stories keeps growing.
