Walmart Connect has unlocked shopping audiences for the streaming TV advertising platform Vibe on 29 October 2026. This means smaller advertisers can now plan CTV campaigns based on Walmart purchase signals, rather than targeting only by demographics or viewed content. The official product announcement confirms the integration; Adweek reports more than 3.300 available audience segments. Walmart itself does not state the exact segment count in its public announcement.
For media teams, this is more than a new selection list in the campaign manager. Retailer data is being brought into a purchase channel that until now has often been tied to expensive TV bookings. The key question is whether advertisers will also receive reliable evidence of additional sales alongside the targeting.
What is new – and what Walmart could already do before
Walmart announced the acquisition of Vibe.co on 23 June and completed it on 4 August 2026 . Vibe offers self-service campaigns for connected TV; Walmart contributes data from its US retail business.
The feature launched today is the first major concrete integration step. According to official information, advertisers in Vibe's campaign interface can reach people whose shopping behaviour suggests a product category, life stage, seasonal purchase intent or particular shopping habits. Walmart creates and maintains these audiences; Vibe remains responsible for buying, optimisation and reporting.
This distinguishes the launch from earlier Walmart partnerships with major TV and digital publishers. Walmart already used retail data for offsite advertising via Spotify and selected TV channels. What is new is primarily direct access through a self-service interface that is also open to smaller brands. The broader expansion of Walmart Connect into a cross-channel media platform has been underway for some time.
Why first-party data does not guarantee buyers
A receipt-level signal describes past shopping behaviour. It does not automatically tell you which household will buy a new product. Particularly for audiences based on life events or presumed interests, advertisers should check how Walmart defines the segments, how current the signals are, and whether households are reached repeatedly across different apps.
The Vibe product page promotes the ability to combine Walmart segments with your own CRM data and existing audiences. On the official pricing page, Vibe also cites a possible entry point from 50 US dollars per day. These figures are provider information, not independently determined average costs or performance guarantees.
This integration step fits into a wider competitive picture: with Vibe for media buying and VIZIO in the smart TV space, Walmart is extending its position beyond its own stores. Back in March, Walmart already announced CTV and commerce connections via VIZIO. According to Vibe, the new access is also aimed at consumer brands without a direct Walmart distribution.
Measurement: your own shop purchases are not the same as Walmart sales
Walmart continues to name attribution of purchases on advertisers' websites and incrementality testing for Vibe. These two functions should not be confused with receipt-level attribution for Walmart that is available everywhere: the current announcement does not indicate a general link between CTV campaigns and all Walmart store transactions that is enabled for all Vibe customers.
A pixel or platform-side purchase attribution can show that a purchase happened after exposure. It does not prove that it happened because of the spot. For budget decisions, control groups, transparent attribution windows and calculating incremental ROAS are therefore helpful. This separation is precisely what the IAB guideline on incrementality in commerce media addresses from November 2025.

Implications for German advertisers
The announced Walmart audience feature refers to US retail data and the US market. Making identical Walmart segments available for German campaigns is not confirmed. Nor does combining first-party data with CTV mean that comparable targeting would be permissible in the EU without its own legal basis, transparency and suitable data protection agreements.
For German brands with US business, the access could be interesting, especially if they have previously avoided CTV because of high planning and minimum budgets. Before testing, they should clarify in writing the segment definition, data origin, available CTV inventory, cost per reached household, overlaps with other channels and the underlying impact measurement.
Status as of 29 October: The feature is announced and, according to Walmart, can be activated. Independently verified sales or incrementality results from the new Vibe offering are not yet available.
