Publicis reports organic net revenue growth of five percent for the third quarter 2026. What stands out is where the business is growing: connected media services and creative work are up, while the technology consultancy Publicis Sapient continues to shrink slightly worldwide. At the same time, the agency group is increasingly pitching AI-driven marketing transformation to executive boards rather than only in classic agency pitches.
What the quarterly figures actually show
According to the official announcement from 13 October, net revenue stood at 3,808 billion euros. The organic increase of 5,0 percent excludes, among other things, currency and acquisition effects; reported growth was 7,9 percent. These are not the same metric.
Publicis divides the business into three areas: Connected Media accounts for 62 percent of net revenue and grew organically at a high single-digit rate; Intelligent Creativity represents 25 percent and grew at a low single-digit rate; Technology, at 13 percent, remained slightly negative worldwide. However, the technology business reportedly grew again in the US. For Germany, Publicis reports overall 7,7 percent organic net revenue growth – no separate figure for AI revenue.
Why AI search is changing faster than large IT projects
The diverging divisions illustrate a concrete procurement problem: advertisers must respond quickly to new AI-driven search, product recommendations and shifting media usage. At the same time, comprehensive data and IT transformations require different budgets, interfaces and governance – and under economic uncertainty they tend to be postponed.
CEO Arthur Sadoun said on the earnings call that, despite the weaker consulting business, Publicis Sapient is supporting new media and marketing mandates. This is a management assessment; the quarterly report does not allow us to isolate how much of the five percent growth is causally attributable to AI.
Fewer classic pitches, more direct conversations with CEOs
According to Digiday, Publicis is increasingly gaining direct access to executive boards at some major clients. Sadoun reported large mandate wins without a conventional tender process; the publicly known example is the global media contract with PepsiCo. It does not follow from this that agency pitches are generally being abolished or that CMOs are becoming redundant.
For German brands, a new control question arises instead: if the data platform, creative production, media buying and AI consulting are bundled within the same group, how are performance metrics, usage rights, data access and conflicts of interest reviewed independently? A faster award is not yet proof of quality or efficiency.
What changes for agency selection and marketing controlling
Publicis itself believes it benefits from a market concentrated on three large global agency groups. That changes the range of choices, but not the obligation to make services comparable. Before bundling AI or media, marketing departments should above all contractually clarify data portability, access rights of AI agents, independent measurement and demonstrable savings.
The new figures complement the already announced expansion of the Publicis Marcel platform. In the competitive comparison, Omnicom also reported growth and cost targets following the IPG integration. For shared data ecosystems, the FTC conditions for Publicis/LiveRamp are also relevant.
