Warner Bros. and Amazon Ads are launching a campaign across Prime Video, Twitch, IMDb, Alexa and the Amazon shop to support the cinema release of "The Cat in the Hat". The "Open to Fun" initiative, presented on 26 October 2026, is meant to turn contact across streaming, voice and interactive advertising into engagement with the film and, ultimately, ticket purchases. According to an official Amazon/Warner announcement [](https://press.aboutamazon.com/2026/10/warner-bros-pictures-animation-and-amazon-ads-invite-audiences-to-play-inside-the-world-of-the-cat-in-the-hat-ahead-of-films-premiere), the new animated film opens 6 November in North America, and internationally from 4 November.
From an advert to a path across several devices
The focus is not a single commercial but a linked user journey: anyone who discovers the film via Prime Video or IMDb can watch trailers on a dedicated Amazon Brand Store page and get to cinema tickets. According to the companies, the page is planned until 8 November. On mobile devices, access to the mini-game works via motion sensor: tilting the smartphone is meant to catch characters. After a round, the result can be shared or another round played. The game character and its voice – spoken by Bill Hader – remain recognisable across the formats.
Alexa extends the initiative with two spoken experiences: playful daily affirmations and jokes in the voice of the film character. Amazon also mentions ads on the homepage and in search results, as well as Twitch livestream integrations. Amazon has not yet published how many people actually buy a ticket as a result.
Why the existing Roblox initiative serves a different function
The Amazon package supplements a campaign that is already running: across three existing Roblox games, Warner places time-limited tasks and virtual items. Roblox relies on participation within an existing game community, Alexa on repeatable voice contact, and the Amazon page on the next concrete step towards a cinema ticket. Summarising all of this as "gaming advertising" would obscure the different impact goals.
The combination is also interesting because Amazon already describes a full-funnel approach with shopping and advertising touchpoints for NFL streams. The Revlon test with interactive Prime Video advertising also shows that high interaction rates do not automatically prove additional revenue.
Which metrics matter for German marketing teams
A sensibly structured evaluation would separate four levels: qualified reach per channel, active interaction with the game and voice features, referral to the ticket provider, and actual additional tickets sold. QR code scans, clicks or shareable game results are only interim indicators. Anyone wanting to measure the causal contribution should, where possible, use geographic or time-based control groups and examine the overlap between Twitch, video and Amazon.
The model is also transferable to German brands, though not automatically every product of the US campaign: voice features, rights to film characters and advertising inventory can differ by market. Anyone planning a comparable activation should clarify availability, data sharing, youth protection and rights for user-generated sharing in advance. How another entertainment provider directly links social commerce to purchases is shown by the Disney campaign on TikTok Shop.
Assessment: The strength of the approach lies in different forms of contact, all intended to contribute to the same goal. Without published sales or lift data, "Open to Fun" remains a documented campaign design, not evidence of higher cinema occupancy.
