73 percent of surveyed marketers now use AI daily, but only 30 percent can name clearly measurable results from their use. That is what the 2026 AI Marketing Industry Report from Social Media Examiner shows – and above all a growing gap between rapid adoption and clean performance measurement.
AI is already everyday life in marketing
For the study, a total of 681 marketers were surveyed in July 2026. 90 percent say they use AI at least weekly; in 2024, the share of daily users was still 37 percent, and in 2026 it was 73 percent. At the same time, 86 percent each say that AI saves them time and increases their productivity.
The decisive catch: only 30 percent report clearly measurable results. Another 39 percent see a benefit but cannot quantify it. For marketing teams, the relevant question is therefore less whether they use AI and more how they systematically capture time savings, output, costs and campaign results.
This fits the broader trend that AI-supported media buying systems need to be controlled and audited more closely. Even with social media workflows built on AI assistants, traceable processes and governance are becoming more important.
Video remains the biggest usage gap
95 percent of respondents use AI for text, but only 37 percent for video. At the same time, 74 percent want to learn more about AI video. Image generation has also become much more widespread: according to the report, its share rose from 39 percent in 2024 to 67 percent 2026.
For social teams this matters because platforms and tools are integrating AI directly into creative workflows. One example is Google Pics for AI-supported social media image editing.
Agents are still early – but interest is high
Only 11 percent of respondents regularly use AI agents, while another 24 percent are experimenting with them. 44 percent plan to get started. At the same time, 74 percent name agents as the topic they most want to learn about.
However, these figures should not be read as a representative cross-section of all businesses. Social Media Examiner recruited participants mainly through its own community; 60 percent work at companies with ten employees or fewer. The report is therefore especially meaningful for smaller marketing teams, freelancers and agencies, and less so as general market statistics for the whole economy.
