Stagwell achieved its largest quarterly revenue to date in the third quarter of 2026 – and the growth figures show where the agency business is heading. The US group increased revenue by 10 percent to 816 million US dollars. Organic net revenue rose by 7 percent. The software business is growing particularly fast: the The Marketing Cloud division achieved 108 percent organic growth.
The figures behind the record quarter
According to Stagwell's quarterly figures, published on 29 October 2026, net revenue reached 664 million dollars. Adjusted EBITDA grew by 25 percent to 145 million dollars. The group also booked 168 million dollars in new business in the quarter and raised its full-year adjusted EBITDA guidance to 490 to 540 million dollars.
The two most notable business areas differ considerably in size: Digital Transformation generated 119 million dollars in net revenue and grew organically by 23 percent. The Marketing Cloud reached 56 million dollars, with an organic increase of 108 percent. The division with the strongest percentage growth is therefore still much smaller than the traditional agency business, but it is gaining weight rapidly.
From agency services to ongoing software business
Stagwell wants to earn more from its clients' technical infrastructure. The agent system The Machine, presented in January, is about connecting briefings, creative production, data and campaign control within existing applications. The Media Machine, announced in June, uses more than 20 AI agents for planning, media buying, optimisation and reporting. Staff are still meant to approve important decisions.
The strategy is now also being sold through multi-year client relationships. On 14 October, Stagwell and ServiceNow announced a three-year partnership. The goal: standardise and automate marketing processes across departments. Stagwell also reports 59 million dollars in contractually booked enterprise technology products since the beginning of the year, more than double the original target for 2026.
The latest expansion of the Palantir partnership fits this picture: data analysis, audience building and operational execution are meant to move closer together. The switch from Assembly to Stagwell Media is also part of this restructuring.
Why the agency industry is paying close attention
Stagwell's figures come at a time when the large agency groups are performing very differently. Publicis reported 5 percent organic net revenue growth for the third quarter, driven in part by the media business and demand for data-driven services. WPP, by contrast, recorded a comparable decline of 2,1 percent in revenue less pass-through costs. The figures are based on each group's own reporting boundaries, but they illustrate the current competitive pressure.
For Stagwell, the positioning is clear: away from the mere sale of campaign hours, towards recurring platform, technology and transformation services. At the same time, the group is further expanding traditional client relationships, including a large multi-agency mandate from ServiceNow, and reports an early significant contract with the US federal government.
The acquisition of the marketing specialist Freestar shows the second side of the strategy: more control over digital advertising inventory and its monetisation. By contrast, WPP with Elevate28 is focusing on the internal restructuring of its agency model.
What German marketing teams can learn from this
The new competitive question is: who can deliver data, creative work and media buying as one connected process? For brands, it is about shorter production cycles, usable customer data and the ability to apply optimisations directly to running campaigns. For agencies, pressure is growing to offer their services not just as staff effort, but as measurable technology and process expertise.
The real milestone in these quarterly results is therefore the 108 percent cloud growth alongside a still large services business. Stagwell demonstrates that the shift from agency network to marketing technology provider is now also showing up in revenue.
