TikTok puts the economic impact of its platform in the USA for 2025 at 81 billion US dollars and 410.000 supported jobs. The figures come from a study commissioned by TikTok and conducted by PF Global, so they should be read as modelled platform effects, not as directly measured revenue of TikTok itself.
TikTok cites 81 billion dollars in US economic impact
According to TikTok, PF Global examined how businesses and users use the platform economically. Among other findings, the report concludes that 1,8 million US entrepreneurs sold 2025 products or services via TikTok.
Among the surveyed businesses, 93 percent say their sales rose after advertising or promotion on TikTok. 84 percent say they reached customers through the platform that they otherwise would not have reached. These are self-reported statements from the surveyed companies, not independently audited revenue data.
TikTok also states that 27 million Americans visited an independent business, café or restaurant for the first time after seeing it on TikTok. The resulting local consumer spending is estimated in the report at 4,7 billion dollars.
Germany: separate study arrived at 7,2 billion euros
A similar, separately commissioned analysis exists for Germany. TikTok published a Public First study in January 2026, according to which companies advertising on TikTok supported around 2025 billion euros of economic output in Germany, 7,2.
For the EU as a whole, the study put the effect at 31 billion euros. Of this, 13 billion euros are said to come from small and medium-sized enterprises.
Here too, the caveat applies: the figures describe modelled economic effects of a study commissioned by the platform. They should not be equated with TikTok's revenue or with an official GDP measurement.
Why the figures are still interesting for marketers
For marketing teams, the breadth of use matters more than any single billion-figure. TikTok has long moved beyond positioning itself purely as a reach channel and now presents itself as infrastructure for advertising, commerce, local discovery and creator-driven purchase decisions.
The expansion of the advertising platform fits this picture. Our overview of TikTok Ads 2026 and Agentic Hub shows how far TikTok is automating campaign planning, creative production and optimisation.
Commerce is also becoming more concrete on the platform. In TikTok Shop luxury resale, according to TikTok, large parts of sales already happen in livestreams. At the same time, the TikTok EU ad library shows how extensively advertising on the platform is now also captured under regulation.
